I am Ted E. Bear, born January 10, 2006, pure golden retriever. My sister, Isabella, and I live with a wonderful family in Northern New York State. The family consists of 2 other furbies, Hank and Missy. Hank and Missy were adopted from the SPCA many years ago. We all live with our human Mom and Dad.
When Izzy and I were born, Mom and Dad came to visit us almost daily. Dad picked me out before my eyes were open. He just could not resist my pink pads. Izzy wiggled her way into Mom’s heart, and Mom got her way and Izzy came with me to live with Mom and Dad. Izzy has special white markings on her head. She is often mistaken for a golden mix, but we all know better.
At the age of 4 months, Izzy and I began our training to be well behaved pups and adults. We heard the goal was for us to become therapy dogs. Wow, we thought, this is going to be exciting. Now 5 years later, Izzy and I have proven to Mom and Dad that we can be therapy dogs. In fact, our Community Library has invited us to visit anytime we want. The patrons love us and we love the attention.
This past January was life changing for me. Mom and Dad were very concerned about my constant limping. The medicine the vet prescribed was not helping. The decision was made for me to see a specialist. Come to find out, I had a bad spot on and in the bone of my right front leg. Mom and Dad were very upset, but through much discussion with the specialist, it was decided that I would be come a tripawd.
I have been home now a little over a week and am doing very well. Mom is constantly watching me, goes outside with me all the time. When she can’t go out, Dad ventures out too. I can see the joy in my parents eyes whenever I wag my tail. My other siblings just are not sure what happened, but they are not bothering me. I really think they understand I need to heal.
Mom tells me she will do her best to keep everyone posted on my progress.
